Jaycris Education Centre was founded by Apostle James Asankoma-Tandoh and his wife, Lady Apostle Christina Asankoma-Tandoh in 1999. The name “Jaycris” was coined from the first names of the couple, “James and Christina”.
The couple who had hitherto established the most vibrant basic school in the Western Region were compelled to start a new business after certain unforeseen challenges and disputes about the first school arose. Despite the lucrativeness of several other businesses, their passion for children’s education led them into no other business than education once again. The Apostle and his wife sold personal properties including several plots of land and a house at Anaji to buy 3.5 acres of land at Bankyease where he commenced construction.
The school officially commenced operations on 14th September, 1999 in a ten-classroom block, running pre-school, primary and junior secondary school education with an enrolment of 217 pupils on the first day, 230 pupils by the second week, 272 pupils by the second term and 294 pupils by the third term.
On the 28th day of October, 1999, the school was inspected by the appropriate authorities for registration after which the school maintains a Grade ‘A’ status till date.
“Things don’t just happen. We make them happen.” With hard work, we knew the sky could only be the starting point.
Every child was seen as an academic patient to be treated educationally, and every vacation was a time for major infrastructural development. Step by step, one by one, brick by brick, extra classrooms were added, enhancements were made on existing structures, and the boarding system was introduced. Moving away from classroom-turned dormitories, we built the self-contained girls’ dormitory, then the boys’ dormitory, and then the new classroom block.
We at Jaycris have never stopped to put in the good work, hence, the upward trajectory in our affairs. We believe that “Your Future Is Now”.
